Basic Water Operators Math Tips

1. Underline important information in the problem.
2. Decide what the problem asks.
3.  What units should the answer be in:  gallons, cubic feet, etc.?
4. Draw a picture.
5. Write down units of measurement with each number in an equation.
6. Conversions, Conversions, Conversions.
7. Foot x foot x foot does not equal gallons!
8. Only dimensions in the same units can be multiplied.
9. Convert % to decimal form.
10. Round answers up or down to nearest whole number.
11. Check your answer.  Does it look like it makes sense for the problem?
